According to reports, the singer died shortly after arriving in Nigeria from the US where she attended the Grammy awards with Kennis music record label bosses.
Her record label, Kennis Music released an official statement through her Twitter and Facebook accounts announcing her death. The message read:
"It is with heavy heart that I have to inform you all that Goldie passed this night shortly after arriving Lagos from LA. May her soul rest in the eternal peace of the Lord".
In the wake of so many other tragedies that have rocked the country recently, this news comes as a shock and saddens us deeply.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family and close friends.
Goldie was 28, and will forever be remembered as a legend in the entertainment industry.
